Afropunk Fest 2015

STREET STYLE
What a fantastic weekend. Although it's Monday I'm still on this super fantastic high. I had a blast at AFROPUNK FEST 2015!!
The music and arts festival which takes places annually in Brooklyn, New York City at Commodore Barry Park. Afropink is the OTHER Black Experience. A place we get to be ourselves. Carefree, Creativie, Artistic, and just so damned Cool!

This year brought out the likes of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, SZA, Kelis and Thundercat to name a few.
I didn't realize just how much I was a part of the alternative black culture lifestyle until I saw so many people just like me there. The melanin, the fierce natural hair styles, the street fashion, the creativity, the sunglasses, the punk vibes. Most of the time people think you're expected to love a certain genre of music simply because of your background or race. I felt right at home here.

I loved the diversity that comes with Afropunk! Such a mixture of people from different races who came out in full force. It was eclectic, Afrocentric, rock and roll and punk swirled into one and all me. This is a huge part of who I am:
AFROPUNK became a touchstone of a cultural movement strongly reminiscent of the early days of Hip-Hop. Alternative urban kids across the nation (and across the globe) who felt like outsiders discovered they were actually the core of a boldly innovative, fast-growing community. The online members have been the driving force behind the exploding AFROPUNK (AP) culture, creating an authentic virtual home in www.afropunk.com, and nurturing the music's best and brightest via expansion of the Liberation Sessions, a live performance series.

BEAUTIFUL!

Ok guys and gals. A festival isn't a festival with the food trucks. Thought I'd give Yankee Doodle Dandy's a try.
A festival also isn't really as fun if you don't bring your bestie along. Taja Fierce graced Afropunk with her Bohemian Afro Chic style and presence.
Good Vibes!!!!
